COCC Foundation Taste of the Town and Meal of the Year - 2008 This year the annual Taste of the Town and the 33rd Meal of the Year will be held on Friday, March 7 and Saturday, March 8. Honorees for this year's Meal of the Year are Ron and Wilda Bryant. One of the oldest charity galas in the area, the Meal of the Year and Taste of the Town are annual fundraising events held each year on the campus of Central Oregon Community College. Last year over 1,000 people attended both evenings, raising nearly $240,000. Tickets for Taste of the Town are $30 in advance, $40 at the door and may be purchased at Newport Market, Saxon's Jewelers in The Old Mill, and the COCC Information Booth. Tickets for Meal of the Year are $110 per person, $1,250 for a corporate table for 10 and may be purchased by calling Impressive Events 383-8268. Both evenings will benefit the COCC Foundation's scholarship program with a silent auction along with a live auction on Saturday evening. Gourmet Cooking Class with Chef TR McCrystal at Camp Caldera Six adults and six kids will spend an afternoon with Chef TR McCrystal, Central Oregon's own Iron Chef and owner of the award-winning Jen’s Garden restaurant. Kids and adults alike will learn how to prepare delicious healthy meals and snacks in the beautiful Camp Caldera kitchen facility outside of Sisters.
